Terms of Service
Last updated: October 9, 2026
These terms govern your use of the SkillBridge Connect website and app (the "Service"), provided by SkillBridge Connect Limited ("SkillBridge", "we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
SkillBridge is a marketplace that connects people offering to teach skills ("Teachers") with people who want to learn them ("Learners"). We provide the app, payments, messaging and video calling tools. SkillBridge isn't a party to the lessons arranged between users. Teachers are independent and aren't employees or agents of SkillBridge.
2. Accounts
- You must give accurate information and keep your profile up to date.
- You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your login details secure.
- You must be 18 or older to create an account and use SkillBridge. Teachers and Learners confirm this when they sign up.
- If we find out that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may suspend or close it.
3. Bookings and payments
- Learners pay for lessons through SkillBridge. Payments are processed by Paystack, and we don't store your card details.
- Payments are held in escrow and released to the Teacher once the lesson is confirmed complete.
- SkillBridge charges a 20% platform commission on Teacher earnings. The Teacher receives the remaining 80%.
- Custom session offers sent by a Teacher are valid for 48 hours. A Learner may accept and pay, or decline. What an offer includes is a matter between the Teacher and the Learner, so check it carefully before paying.
- Teacher earnings are credited to the Teacher's SkillBridge wallet first. Teachers can then withdraw wallet funds to their saved bank account. Withdrawals are sent through our payment provider and may take time to settle and may be subject to transfer fees.
- Arranging or making payments for lessons outside SkillBridge to avoid fees or escrow isn't allowed. It also removes the protection escrow provides.
4. Referrals
You can invite friends with your personal referral code, which a friend can enter when signing up. When a friend you invited completes their first lesson on SkillBridge, you may receive a referral reward, credited to your SkillBridge wallet. Referral rewards are paid by SkillBridge, not charged to other users, and can be withdrawn like other wallet funds.
- You can't refer yourself or create extra accounts to earn rewards.
- A reward is earned once per invited friend, after their first completed lesson.
- We may withhold or reverse rewards, and suspend accounts, where we reasonably suspect abuse or fake accounts.
- We may change or end the referral programme at any time. Rewards already earned stay in your wallet.
5. Cancellations, refunds and disputes
If a lesson is cancelled, doesn't take place, or is materially different from what was agreed, either party can contact support. We'll review the booking and may refund the Learner, release funds to the Teacher, or split the payment, based on the information available. Our decision on escrowed funds is final within the Service.
6. Video calls and messages
Lessons can take place by video call, using a third-party video service (8x8 / Jitsi as a Service), on a phone or a laptop. Join links created in chat are personal to you, so don't share them. Messages you send in the app are stored so you and the other person can read them, and so we can investigate reports of abuse. Don't record or share calls or messages without the other person's consent.
7. Your conduct
You agree not to:
- Give false information, impersonate others or create fake reviews
- Harass, threaten or discriminate against other users
- Offer illegal, unsafe or misleading lessons or content
- Interfere with the Service or try to access it without authorisation
8. Content and reviews
You keep ownership of content you post, such as your profile and reviews. You give SkillBridge a licence to display it as part of the Service. Reviews must be honest and based on real experience. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
9. Suspension, termination and deleting your account
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put other users at risk.
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account. To delete, your wallet balance must be zero (withdraw it first) and you must have no open lessons or funds held in escrow. After deletion, your personal details (name, email, photo, bio, bank details) are removed or anonymised and you can no longer log in. Records of past lessons, payments, reviews and messages are kept in anonymised form for accounting, fraud prevention and legal reasons.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is". SkillBridge doesn't guarantee the quality, safety or outcome of any lesson, or that the app will always be available. To the extent permitted by law, SkillBridge isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service or from interactions between users, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid through the app for the lesson in question.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
12. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.
